Wow!
Two weeks left in the transfer, and here I am writing another email! The weather is nice and hot, not a lot of rain. I have been told that in the winter it rains all the time plus it's cold, so I don't know if I'm looking forward to that...
This past week has been a blast! On Monday (P-day - preparation day), a part-member family took us out to an all-you-can-eat-buffet in Bristol called Cosmo. They took us because we did some service work for them and they wanted to treat us to lunch. Cosmo is like an Asian all-you-can-eat buffet. They have Thai food, Chinese food, Japanese food and so much more. All I can say is that it was soo good and I ate so much that they were rolling me out of the door!
Tuesday we were mostly out inviting, so I'm starting to get some serious tan lines! We also had another lesson with one of our friends Henry. It's amazing to see the changes in his life. When we were first teaching him he seemed sad and unhappy, but now, he is very happy. Everytime we have gone to teach him, we noticed that he semed happier with each visit. It 's amazing to see the effects of the gospel of Jesus Christ in the lives of others.
My companion got some Ted Baker shoes. They look so nice! Also made very durable for outdoor use. (Editor's note: You know you're a missionary when.... It seems Elder Jakob has developped a love for all creations Ted Baker! Lol!)
On Thursday, we had our interviews with the Mission President. My companion had his last interview with President Hughes. This transfer there are 24 missionaries departing for home, 16 of which are Elders. I feel like I will not be staying here in Downend next transfer, so it might be bye bye to Bristol! We'll see. Later on in the day we went out inviting for an hour, or at least that was the plan until something unexpected happened. We got a call from someone that we met on the street while inviting. He told us that he wanted to meet up and so we did and ended up teaching him the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. At the end of our visit, we invited him to be baptised and he said yes! So now we have two people who have committed to follow the example of the Saviour by being baptised!
Friday to Saturday was exchanges with the Zone Leaders. We ended up give out 4 Books of Mormon and we talked to 4 people. Each of the people we talked to had a lot of questions and were very interested in what we had to say! We ended up exchanging contact info and invited them out to church. Since they are in the boundaries of the Southmead ward, I don't know if they showed up or not, but I pray that they did and that they will feel the Spirit when they read the Book of Mormon.
I was reading through 2 Nephi 1 this week. At the end of the chapter, Lehi is exhorting his two eldest sons to look to God and to keep His commandments. He promises them that if they do, they would prosper in the land. I think a lot of us are like Laman and Lemuel (the names of Lehi's rebellious son). We tend to forget everything that the Lord has done for us. We are overcome by pride (natural man) and want everything to be about us. I can promise you that by living the gospel of Jesus Christ, that by keeping His commandments, these are the things that help us to receive the promised blessings that God wants to give us.
I would also ask you to consider and ponder the words of King Benjamin in the Book of Mormon. To consider the "happy and blessed state of those who keep the commandments of God" (Mosiah 2:41). Part of that involves listening to the words of the prophets. Prophets are people who are called of God and speak His words. Take Lehi's counsel, "And now my son, Laman, and also Lemuel and Sam, and also my sons who are the sons of Ishmael, behold, if ye will hearken unto the voice of [the prophets] ye shall not perish." (2 Nephi 1:28) I know and testify that President Russell M. Nelson is the authorized prophet of God on the earth today. By following his counsel, we are following the will of God, that if we hearken unto his voice, we will not perish spiritually. Remember that there is always time to start following God and His words. I know and promise that the Lord will bless you for your efforts in keeping His commandments and that you will find greater joy and peace in this life as a result.
Love you all! That's for all your prayers and support!
Cheers,
Elder Jakob

Our flat reached 29 degrees celsius. Worst time of my life! I was sweating just sitting there.

We were out tracting in our area around 8pm. The sunsets are beautiful!

One for mom (She frequents the one in Canada often and will appreciate this)... Was downtown Bristol and found this Fabricland. And it says it's a massive one too.
