Week 15 - Should I Stay Or Should I Go Now?

Well, this is it. I'm officially done being trained and my trainer is going home on Wednesday. I couldn't have had a better "upbringing" into the mission. I'm grateful for my trainer, Elder Hardy and all that he has taught me in my first 12 weeks in the mission field.

My trainer Elder Hardy, Elder Tollestrup (a fellow Canadian - in the middle) and me outside the Downend chapel.

So I got my new assignment yesterday, and boy, oh boy, what an exciting one! Right after being trained, I'm going to sit in an office for the next 4 transfers (24 weeks) and am going to forget how to be an actual missionary! ...That's right, I'm going to be an office Elder! (the mission office is in Birmingham) Now that is to say, it's not like I won't be able to go out each day and share about how God has restored His gospel, because we go out in the evenings to invite and teach starting at 5pm. But a lot of the day will be spent in the office. I am still pretty excited though! Also, since I am going to the office, that means that my preparation day will be moved to Saturday instead of Monday.

My companion and I waiting outside a pub waiting to teach someone.

What can I say, I love it here in Bristol and I am sad to be leaving, but I am also really excited to be seeing a new part of England. I'm really going to miss the people that we've met and are currently teaching, but I'm know that I will meet new friends and people and learn and grow to love them too.

My burger - the dirty union burger. 2 onion rings, chicken, beef paddy with bacon and 2 slices of cheese.

My companion's burger at Dirty Burgers. It's 30 seconds from our flat.  This bad boy has 5 paddies, 4 pieces of bacon and 8 slices of cheese. It's also called the big dirty. It's VERY big!

They have Dr, Pepper over here.  Tastes different.  My companion started acting funny after drinking it. Lol!

This week has been a blast. There was a lot of inviting and a lot of lessons. On Tuesday, we had 4 lessons and all of them went through! People in England can sometimes be pretty floggy, but we were able to have all 4 of our lessons! We also told all our friends that we were teaching goodbye, considering we knew we were getting whitewashed (a term used when both missionaries leave an area at the same time). We had a district counsel on Wednesday and said goodbye to everyone here in our district. Our whole district is getting whitewashed!!! It's going to be interesting here.

One of our friends named Josh.  Wonderful person! Going to miss him.

We were out tracting and saw a bunch of hippie van collectables.

Friday was exchanges again with our zone leaders in Bristol. We had a great time! We even got to go to a baptism in another area in the Bristol zone! This new member is so solid! He's almost 19 and he wants to serve a mission and help people!

At Kai's baptism.  He was being taught in Tauton.

Saturday was a very rainy day..... my trousers were soaked through. The wind basically send the rain horizontal so there was no shielding my trousers! It was very fun though. The zone leader I was on exchange with, he was using his umbrella and the wind crippled it. Ah, it was so funny.

Saw a beautiful sky while out tracting in the rain.

Sorry if today kind of seems rushed.... I'm getting moved today and I don't have much time to write. I will leave you with my testimony, that I know that God is our Heavenly Father and that He love us very much. I know that we have a prophet on the earth today, President Russell M. Nelson and that he receives revelation for the church and all mankind, to help lead and guide us. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that it is true, that it acts as a compass such as the Liahona, to guide us in our lives. I'm so grateful for this church and I love it!

Thanks everyone!

Cheers,

Elder Jakob
