Hmmmm... 45 Weeks... That's 7 more weeks until I've been out a year! What is going on? This is starting to get a little unbelievable. These past two transfers (12 weeks) have flown by being out of the office.
So yesterday, my companion and I got our transfer information. Elder Parker is leaving Weymouth. I know I am also training a new missionary coming into the field because I got a call last week asking me to be a trainer. Now this is where it gets a little interesting... I am going to be training in Weymouth. I thought I would be leaving because I am training a new missionary and you don't train new missionaries in zone leaders areas. Weymouth is still going to be a zone leader area as well. So I found out that zone leader trainer is now a thing. It gets better because there are supposed to be two zone leaders, and there are, but both of us are zone leader trainers in different locations. So no idea how this is all going to work out, but hey, the mission president felt that this needed to be, and I'm putting my faith forward and am going to do the best I can for the zone and the new missionary I will be training.
With all that aside, let me tell you how my week went...
Monday was just a normal preparation day, nothing too special. But the week does get better. Since I was called to be a trainer to train a new missionary, they had a "new trainers" meeting that I attended on Tuesday. So I had to drive up to Birmingham Monday night to stay closer to the mission office because it's about a 3h 30min from Weymouth to the mission office.
On Tuesday, I attended the new trainers meeting. The meeting was really good and I learned a lot. A lot from Doctrine and Covenants, section 121 was talked about. Afterwards, we ended up inviting in Harborne because my companion, Elder Parker, is a Mandarin Chinese speaker and his Chinese district wanted to do some inviting there. Let me tell you, there were A LOT of Chinese people there! We set up a table and stuck a banner to the front of it titled, "The Book of Mormon Experiment". Basically all it is, you have Book of Mormons on the table and each person has a clipboard with various pages from the Book of Mormon on the clipboard. Then you ask people to highlight things that stick out to them of references to God and Jesus Christ as they read. Since the Book of Mormon Musical is now in Birmingham, we had a lot of interested people! We found around 39 new people to teach, with 30 of them being Chinese.
We stayed the night again on Tuesday to Wednesday. The reason being, was to help out the sister missionaries message all of the people we met, including the Chinese people so my companion could help with that. We left back to our area Wednesday afternoon.
Thursday, we went to Plymouth, so we could have hot pot with a Sister Zhang (our Chinese convert baptized a couple weeks ago) to say our goodbyes and also to teach her a lesson. Let me tell you all, it has been a wonderful two transfers and I am grateful for all of the wonderful experiences that I have had that have drawn me and others closer to our Saviour.
This weekend was Stake Conference. The stake president here is AWESOME! He is so on board with missionary work and wants to help motivate the members to start inviting their families and their friends to come closer to Jesus Christ. He had us missionaries help in the Priesthood auxiliary training meeting because he wanted to mimic a district council. It was SO AWESOME! They also expressed their gratitude for us missionaries and invited the members to invite us into their homes.
Well, that is pretty much it for this week. We have spent a lot of time with other missionaries and helping them out. Even missionary companionships that aren't in our zone. Haha!
I know that God lives, He loves us, and He wants the best for us. We can turn to Him for peace. I know that Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten of the Father and that He loves us so much that He gave His own life for us, so that we could partake of the joy, and happiness that comes from "cleaving unto God". I am grateful that my Heavenly Father knows me perfectly and He knows exactly what I am going through. That applies to everyone, not just me.
Thank you for all of your prayers! I really do appreciate everything you all do!
With love,
Elder Jakob

Flooding at the petrol station. Too much rain!
