A little backstory here...
Elder Jakob was to travel from Toronto to Newark with a 2 hour layover before boarding his next flight from Newark to Manchester, England. He was informed after we left him at the airport that there was almost a 1.5 hour delay to Newark making it near impossible to catch his connecting flight. Let the prayers begin! The following describes his experience...
Howdy. Made it to the MTC (Missionary Training Centre) alive. It's already 10:30am here.
So, I already have an interesting story to tell...
When I got off my first plane in Newark, I was at terminal A. My connecting flight was all the way across the airport in terminal C. When I was taking the transit to get to terminal C, a guy on the bus looked at me and saw that I was pretty stressed out. He asked me what time my flight was boarding. I told him 6:30pm (it was already 6:25pm). He told me not to worry and that I would make it. Strangely enough, I was mostly calm after we spoke.
After that, he asked me where my flight was going to. I proceeded to tell him that I was going to Manchester England. He then asked why I was heading out there. I replied to him that I was serving as a missionary for my church. He looked at me and then asked, ''you wouldn't happened to be Mormon, would you?'' I agreed (but advised him of the proper name of the church). I asked where he heard of us from and he told me that he had a good friend in college who served in Germany.
After saying this, there was a son and mom who chimed in. The mom said that they were from Utah and that her son was getting ready to go serve a mission!
Before I was praying a lot for help me get through this traveling experience all alone, and Heavenly Father answered my prayers by presenting people to help give me the courage to push through. I know that prayer works, and that Heavenly Father will never abandon us when in need.
Love you all!
