Well, nothing really exciting happened this week. Sure lots of things happened, but it's just not that exciting. Hopefully, you will find it more exciting than I did... haha!
So, as Zone Conference happened a couple of weeks ago (can't believe it's already been 2 weeks). I was tasked to make a video highlighting key points and ideas that were conveyed in the conference. It was quite a fun experience to be able to make a video. That being said, I was able to experiment a bit with Adobe Premiere and After-Effects. I have to say that I actually quite enjoyed making a video and playing around with the programs. Now, you might be wondering, "how does playing with video software fulfill your missionary purpose?" Well, the whole point of making the video was to help "hype" the missionaries to do missionary work. A lot of wonderful things were said this past Zone Conference, including invitations from our mission president. So I condensed the invitations and ideas into a video to get everyone excited and motivated.
Going back to my first Zone Conference, it was what we called a "mission tour". It doesn't mean that we toured the mission, but that the area president (a member of the quorum of the seventy that is assigned to our mission area) came to visit. So he spoke at the Zone Conference and gave a lot of needed counsel to help out us missionaries. He spoke of the importance of working with the YSA (Young Single Adults, 18-30 yrs) and developing a relationship with them to help strengthen and inspire them to help in missionary work. After Zone Conference, President Hughes really wanted to act on his counsel and invitation, so he has been trying to get us missionaries to work more with the YSA. This past Sunday, there was a special YSA sacrament meeting and all the YSA within our mission met there. A lot of missionaries were also told to attend. It was very exciting and we were able to talk to a lot of YSA and get to know them.
We had a couple of DA (Dinner Appointments) this past week. They were with families that have us over every single week, haha! It's nice that they feed us and I am very grateful. They invite us over every week but want us to stay for over a 1h 30mins. Missionary DAs shouldn't last more than an hour according to the missionary handbook, so it's really hard to stay obedient. It's not like spending a lot of time with the members is a bad thing, but I think it's the principle of good, better and best in the work that we do.
This week we also worked on the transfer board (the board in which transfers are planned in person). Now we didn't do transfer planning, but we did print out everything and tidy up the board. It looks a lot better now.
There are a lot of cool car dealerships around, like Lamborghini, Bently, Ferrari. Hopefully I can go in sometime and get a good look at them and maybe some pictures with me in them! :D
So that's pretty much it for this week. Not much happened that was exciting... see I told you! I wonder how the upcoming week will be...?
Before I go, I want you to know that I have a testimony of Jesus Christ, that He lives and that all things are possible through Him. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that it can and will bring us closer to Jesus Christ as we apply the teachings and principle that are found in it. God's whole work is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of his children. We will all be resurrected again and have perfect immortal bodies because of Jesus Christ and His Atonement, however, eternal life is more of an individual matter. Eternal life is to know and live with God the Father and Jesus Christ, His Only Begotten Son. What better way to know Jesus Christ than by studying His teachings and by making, keeping and renewing promises such as baptismal and temple covenants. It really is through those things that we can come to know and love the Saviour in a deeper, more profound way. I really do know that this is Jesus Christ's church established here on the earth today and I invite you all to take time out of your day and make "appointments" with Jesus Christ, to get to know Him. The only way to get to know someone is to spend time with them. Spend time with Jesus Christ and I promise that as you do, you will come to know Him more and see His hand in your life.
Hope you all have a great week!
Cheers,
Elder Jakob

Finally got a picture of my companion. This is Elder Farnsworth.
